Lesson 1: Your First Song
Creating your first-ever song using pre-recorded loops (concepts: guided exploration, important navigation buttons, rhythmic and melodic loops, trimming loops, copy/pasting loops, exporting files, how to share your song)
Lesson 2: Writing a Song Using the Audio Recorder
Writing and recording a rap and creating accompaniment using loops (concepts: creating ABA form in a piece, transitional techniques between sections, writing a short rap, recording and editing an audio file, copy/pasting and audio file, adding effects, texture, and variety)
Lesson 3: Drum Beat Exploration
Creating a song with your own custom drum beat (performing and recording a custom drum beat on the acoustic drum set, editing track using quantization, and using Smart Drums, Beat Sequencer, and Drummer to customize drum beats, while adding various loops to supplement drum recordings, editing tracks using quantization, adding extra loops for texture, adding sections, adding FX)
Lesson 4: Recording Using Bass, Guitar, Strings, & Piano
Creating a song by playing and recording bass, guitar, strings, and piano within the app (four basic chords in music, using SmartBass to play and record chords, using SmartGuitar to play and record chords, using SmartPiano to play and record chords, using SmartStrings to play and record chords, recording a melody line using the strings, guitar, or piano with the pentatonic scale, editing tracks using automation and quantization, adding extra loops for texture, adding sections, adding FX)

Mrs. G guides students through every step of the way with four ±30 minute video lessons covering everything from how to navigate the GarageBand app, recording audio, to creating their own beats and songs.
The course also comes with personalized feedback from Mrs. G to help the kiddos improve their compositions. All they need to do is download their projects, email them to Ms. G and wait for her feedback!

Hi there! I'm Katie Gettys -- I tell the students it rhymes with lettuce, but usually they just call me Mrs. G 😜
In the last four years, I have taught guitar to over a THOUSAND kiddos with my online music studio for kids, Mini Musicians Studio.
I pride myself on the fact that my guitar lessons are about none of the pressure, and ALL of the fun. 🎉
We get to songs your students will LOVE as early as possible -- I'm talking songs by Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Imagine Dragons -- you name it! Or more of a Disney lover? Me too, let's do it!
It's so important to me that we learn in a way that students feel EXCITED about their progress and MOTIVATED to continue. I want them finishing every lesson, running to you (mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, etc.) and say "look to what I learned!"

The self-paced course allows students to learn at their own speed!
They can access all course materials anytime and progress through the lessons whenever it fits their schedule. Perfect for busy families or kids who like to move at their own pace!
Some students may complete the course in just a few weeks, while others might take a little longer. It’s all about what works best for your child’s learning style and schedule!
Laptops and desktops will be permitted in weeks 1 & 2 if necessary but it is our suggestion to complete the entire course with an iPad or iPhone.
